Chocolate banana bites

Chocolate banana bites

These chocolate banana bites are the perfect-sized snack. Watch the video above to see just how easy they are to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1½  cups bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 cup of assorted toppings for coating bananas (suggestions: roasted almonds, toffee bits, pecans, peanuts, or shredded coconut)
  • 3 ripe bananas, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices

Method:

1. Melt the chocolate chips with the canola oil in a heatproof bowl in the microwave. It depends on your microwave’s wattage, but in mine it took 1½ minutes at 50 per cent power.

2. Working quickly, dip the banana slices in the chocolate and then roll in the toppings to completely cover the banana. We used shredded unsweetened coconut and chopped roasted almonds, but the combinations of things banana and chocolate go well with are almost endless.

3. Freeze for three hours before eating. Will keep in the freezer in an airtight container for several weeks, if you don’t eat them all first!
