10 children’s books to reread as an adult
Some books might be illustrated and sit in the children’s section, but that doesn’t them from being a stellar read.
Whether they’re literary classics like Wind in the Willows or newer novels like the Harry Potter series, these 10 children’s books are perfect for young and old.
1. Charlotte’s Web
A beautiful story about love and loss that will have you reaching for the tissues, regardless of age. E. B. White’s barnyard tale about a pig who is scared of the end of the season because he’ll end up on the dinner table, hatches a plan with Charlotte, a garden spider.
2. The Harry Potter Series
Ok, if you read this series aloud to the grandkids it’ll take you months, but this is a great tale for young and old. Plus, knowing who Voldemort and Cedric Diggory is will definitely earn you extra brownie points.
3. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
A beautifully imaginary tale that will evoke memories of dressing up and playing in the garden as a child. Lewis Carroll’s classic is a great fantasy escape from everyday life.

The story of Mary Lennox, a recently orphaned girl who goes to live in her Uncle’s mansion in Yorkshire, and learns the lessons of friendship and humility when she discovers a hidden garden.
5. The Runaway Bunny
A fabulous illustrated tale to read to little ones, where you can pretend to be the big and little bunnies in the story.

The smallest student with red hair at a convent in France, Madeleine’s character and adventures are heart-warming, no matter your age.
8. The Wind in the Willows
Step into a dream world with this charming 1908 classic by Kenneth Grahame. Make sure you track down an original illustrated copy for a true walk down memory lane.
9. Stuart Little
Your grandkids will squeal when they think they’re about to watch the Hollywood hit film Stuart Little, but this family favourite was actually based on a book. Read the original together for a story you’ll both love.
10. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
C.S. Lewis’ epic series will take you into a fabulous fairytale world that’s sure to captivate you and the grandkids.
