Actor Bill Paxton’s family sues hospital over his death
The family of actor Bill Paxton is reportedly suing the surgeon who performed heart surgery on the actor, as well as the hospital, just 11 days before his untimely death at 61.
The star of films like Apollo 13, Titanic, The Terminator and Twister passed away on February 25 last year, but his family assert that Paxton’s death was ultimately avoidable.
The family’s lawsuit accuses surgeon Ali Khoynezhad of carrying out improper procedures during his treatment of Paxton, and also blames the hospital for inactivity.
“Bill Paxton and his family trusted the physicians and staff at this medical facility but instead Cedars-Sinai betrayed their trust,” the family’s lawyer Bruce Broillet said in a statement.
“The surgeon’s actions resulted in this tragic and preventable death.”
Khoynezhad reportedly stopped working for the hospital shorlty after Paxton’s death.
“We are pursuing accountability and justice from a physician and a hospital that failed to adequately protect Mr Paxton,” lawyer Steve Heimberg said in the release.
