Cate Blanchett's adopted daughter is the spitting image of her
Aussie movie star Cate Blanchett has been photographed with her adopted daughter, Edith.
Holding on to her mother as she was carried through the streets of Paris, the three-year-old shares a striking resemblance to her Oscar-winning mother.
Edith Vivian Patricia was adopted by Cate and her husband, Andrew Upton, in February 2015.
The couple, who have been married for 20 years, have three biological sons together –15-year-old Dashiel, 12-year-old Roman and 8-year-old Ignatius.
The family sold their Hunters Hill mansion in January and have since being living in the English countryside.
The actress revealed that she first wanted to adopt after having her first son in 2002.
“I felt we had space, enough emotional room in our hearts and we’re privileged enough to have the capacity to have another child, so it wasn’t about biology,” she said at the Women in the World India Summit.
“There wasn’t a desire to have a girl necessarily — gender of the children has never been particularly important to me, it’s more about their spirits, but it’s been a remarkable thing watching them welcome her and become a little troupe.”
Cate was visiting Paris to attend Givenchy’s Spring-Summer 2018 show at Paris Fashion Week.
