Celebrities share their sorrow at passing of actor Burt Reynolds
Friends and colleagues in Hollywood are mourning the passing of actor Burt Reynolds, who has died aged 82.
Reynolds was one of the hottest stars in the 1970s and '80s, putting in memorable performances in Deliverance, Smokey and the Bandit and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
He earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor in Boogie Nights in 1997 and produced the popular sitcom Evening Shade. Those who knew him have taken to social media to remember his humour and warmth.
Arnold Schwarznegger said Reynolds was one of his heroes.
Dolly Parton, who acted and sang with him in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, has said she will always love him.
Comedian Ricky Gervais has commented on Reynolds' sense of humour. "Seems his whole career was tongue in cheek. Always warm and funny."
Singer and actress Reba McEntire, who starred with Reynolds in the TV film The Man From Left Field wrote, "I'll never forget the wonderful times we spent together."

Karate Kid actor Ralph Macchio has recalled meeting him a few years ago.
Patton Oswald has shared a story about Reynolds deciding to get acting lessons after he was fired from both Gunsmoke and Rawhide.
Burt Reynolds & Clint Eastwood were fired from GUNSMOKE & RAWHIDE at the same time. Burt was told he couldn't act and Clint his neck was too skinny. In the parking lot, Burt said to Clint, "I dunno what you're gonna do, but I'm gonna take acting lessons." #RIPBurtReynolds
