Top tracks by The Doors

December 8 this year marks the day when legendary rock signer Jim Morrison would have celebrated his 72nd birthday. The late lead singer of The Doors is regarded as one of the most iconic and influential figures in rock history, who was well known for improvising poetry while the band played live.

To honour the rock star and celebrate his incredible life, we name The Doors’ ten greatest hits.

1. Light My Fire (As above)

Light My Fire is the perfect summary of The Doors’ music and symbol of the era. The track even hit number one just as the Summer of Love was starting!

2. The End

This has got to be one of the most brilliant and epic album closers! The band reportedly honed their performance of this song by taking the stage each night at intimate gigs in Los Angeles.

3. Break on Through (To the Other Side)

The Doors’ first single still sounds like a hit classic, even today. It’s that perfect combination of piercing guitar and electric keyboard riffing. Perfection.

4. L.A. Woman

This was the title track for the bands final album, released in 1971. Devastatingly, three months after the record was released Morrison died.

5. When the Music’s Over

A hit track from the album ‘Strange Days,’ the Doors fans claim this tune defined the entire record.

6. Touch Me

This sexed-up track is the string and horn-filled tune from the album ‘The Soft Parade.’

7. Love Me Two Times

Considered a bridge between the Doors’ first and second albums, ‘Love Me Two Times’ retains the band’s blues beginnings.

8. Roadhouse Blues

‘Roadhouse Blues’ was the opening track from the Doors’ fifth album. It later became one of the band’s most popular songs.

9. People Are Strange

The lead single from their second album ‘Strange Days’ just missed out on a top 10 ranking.

10. Hello, I Love You

This love song can from the Doors second album, the only to reach first place on the charts.
