Why you shouldn’t leave your phone charging in bed
Firefighters have uploaded terrifying photos, warning mobile phone users of the danger of leaving devices to charge on or in beds.
Taken in New Hampshire, the photos reveal clear scorch marks that were the result of a charger, lodged between bedsheets, catching alight.
"Research has revealed that 53 per cent of children/teens charge their phone or tablet either on their bed or under their pillow," the caption reads. "This can be extremely dangerous."
"The heat generated cannot dissipate and the charger will become hotter and hotter."
"The likely result is that the pillow/bed will catch fire. This places the child/teen as well as everyone else in the home in great danger.”
"Please check where you and your family charge your mobile devices."
The post has been shared over 33,000 times with many users tagging their family and friends who are guilty of charging their devices in bed.
