Couples who accidentally fell in love on reality TV
Aside from The Bachelor and Married at First Sight – although this could be debatable – contestants on most reality shows are there either for money, glory or fame. So you can imagine just how unexpected it was for these competitors to come away with much more than a title – a relationship.
Let’s take a look at some of the couples who found love in the most surprising places.
1. Michelle Bridges and “The Commando”
Fitness gurus Michelle Bridges and Steven “The Commando” Willis met in 2007 on the set of the Australian version of The Biggest Loser. After both of their long-term relationships broke down in 2013, they turned to one another for comfort and began dating. Four years on, the couple are still together, welcoming their first child, Axel, in December 2015.
2. Rachel Finch and Michael Miziner
Within just two years, Rachel Finch won the title of Miss Universe Australia and met the love of her life. Just one year after her pageant success in 2009, Finch competed in Dancing with the Stars, where she found herself pared with professional dancer Michael Miziner. They hit it off immediately, got married, and today have two children, Violet and Dominic.
3. Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec
Aussie-born Kym Johnson not only hit the big time when she became one of the professional dancers on the US version of Dancing with the Stars, but found her future husband. Johnson was paired with multimillionaire businessman and Shark Tank personality Robert Herjavec in 2015. Less than a year later, they were married.
4. Rob Mariano and Amber Brikich
If these names don’t sound familiar, how about “Boston Rob”? Mariano and Brikich met on the 2003 season of Survivor: All Stars and quickly formed a strong alliance – not to mention a strong relationship. They fought their way to become the final two, and right before Brikich was declared the winner, Mariano popped the question. Today, they’re happily married with four daughters.
5. Peter Andre and Katie Price
Singer Peter Andre and glamour model Katie Price had instant chemistry when they were thrown in the jungle together on the 2004 season of the UK’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. A year and a half later, they were married. Sadly, they announced their divorce two days before what would’ve been their fourth wedding anniversary. They have two children together, Junior and Princess.
