Piers Morgan slams Harry and Meghan: "Princess Diana would be horrified"

Piers Morgan has said that Princess Diana would be horrified to see Prince Harry “smearing” the Queen after claiming that he knew the late royal well.

He also said that Harry’s split from Prince William would also have broken his mother’s heart.

While speaking to US TV host Tucker Carlson in his first interview since he resigned from his gig as co-host of Good Morning Britain, Morgan slammed Harry and Meghan.

"I knew Princess Diana well," he told Carlson during Tucker Carlson Today, which aired on Monday night.

"I think she would be horrified by the split between Harry and his brother, by the schism now between Harry and the royal family generally, by the appalling smearing of the Queen, which is already causing damage in some of the Commonwealth countries, who are buying into this outrageous lie that the Queen is somehow racist, presiding over a racist institution."

Morgan quit his hosting role on Good Morning Britain after one too many remarks about the Duchess of Sussex.

The show received a number of complaints from viewers, and even Meghan herself.

However, leaving the show hasn’t made him change his tune, telling Carlson he still doesn't believe Harry and Meghan's claims.

"Seventeen different claims by the pair of them have now been proven to be either completely untrue or massively exaggerated or unproveable," Morgan said.

"I was an outrage. I wasn't allowed to have an opinion ... I was told that you have got to believe Meghan Markle, and if you don't believe what she's saying you are a racist."

Morgan also slammed Meghan’s mental health comment, and said it was "impossible to believe" two people in the palace had denied her the help she needed.

"You're accusing two people in the palace of being unspeakably cruel simply to protect the brand of the Royal family," he said.

"If that is true, let's have the names of these people and let's go to them and ask them if this is true - 'did you tell a suicidal woman, who told you she was suicidal, not to get help?'

"I find that impossible to believe. You wouldn't have two people in the palace who will be that callous to a woman telling them that she was suicidal."

Morgan said there was "a lot of anger" building over the interview in the UK over "the very ugly smearing of our Queen".

"Particularly at a time when her husband Prince Philip, who's 99, was fighting for his life up in hospital," he added.

"Everything about this was tacky, tasteless, disingenuous and, I'm afraid, I believe in some cases downright lying on a global scale."

Morgan has claimed in the past that Meghan “ghosted” him as a friend after she met Harry in 2016.

He said he had previously met up with the then-Suits star in London after connecting with her on social media.
