Why Meghan Markle was pressured to lie about her age
Prince Harry’s bride-to-be Meghan Markle has revealed to The Sun that she was pressured to lie about her age in order to get more acting roles.
Her agents advised her to gloss over her real age if she wanted to avoid being rejected by producers for being over 30.
The Sun has uncovered an interview from 2015, where Ms Markle is reported as saying that, “I think that as women actors, the industry can assume they have a shelf life.
“I’m always told, ‘Don’t say your age’. I’m 33 and I’m really comfortable with that. I think if anyone has a problem then it’s their problem, not mine.
“I think in television, you are seeing a shift of women who are not in their 20s who play strong women.”
Ms Markle, now 36, was best known for her starring role in the US TV drama Suits before becoming engaged to Prince Harry in November this year. They plan to marry on May 19, 2018.
