6 clever ways to save money at home in spring
As the sun starts to come out there are plenty of ways for clever homeowners to save money. Here are six clever money saving tips you should try in spring.
Follow these tips and you’ll have more loose change for some fun!
1. Have a light spring clean
Nothing gives your house a sense of freshness like a spring clean, and you’re bound to find a range of items that have just been sitting around the home unused. Find the items you don’t want and trying and sell them at a garage sale (or even donate to charity).
2. Cook your own meals
Eating out can be extremely expensive, especially in the warmer months. Instead of eating out invite your friends over and cook your own meals. This is a great way to save money while entertaining and perhaps a good opportunity to try a brand new recipe as well.
3. Grow your own food
If you’ve got the space (and a bit of a green thumb) you might want to consider taking advantage of the warmer weather to grow your own veggies. Seeds and seedlings work out as a great deal and the produce you will enjoy won’t have any harmful pesticides.
4. Be strategic with your use of air conditioning
As it starts to get warmer there can be quite a temptation to ramp up your air conditioning use but the costs can quickly get out of hand if you’re not careful. Alternate between the use of air conditioning and fans depending on how hot it is.
5. Dry your laundry outside
There’s really no reason to be using your dryer in the warmer months. Simply get your pegs and let the sun and the warm breeze do the work through you. You’ll also find your clothes feel fresher and cleaner after being air dried in the sun.
6. Take advantage of the extended evenings
The days are getting longer, so make sure you’re taking advantage of the extra light. Perhaps even go for an evening stroll instead of sitting down and watching the television. You’ll save money on electricity and also end up feeling healthier as well.
