Readers response: What are your tips for saving money effectively?

During a time where many people are struggling with the cost of living crisis, many are finding different ways to pinch the pennies.

We asked our readers for their top tips for saving money efficiently, and the response was overwhelming. Here's what they said.

Anita Thornton - Every month the bank takes a specified amount out of my current account and puts it in a goal saver account! It soon mounts up.

Jo Davidson - Do your own cooking, cleaning and anything that you can do yourself.

Barry Webber - Know the difference between spending money and wasting money.

Peter Connolly - Save first, and spend afterwards.

Heather O'Flynn - Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves, even if it's a bit outdated now. You can ask your bank to move a set amount from your everyday account into a progress saver account each week and if you set it and forget it, you will get good compounding interest.

Erlinda Nabong Mayers - Shop as you need, not as you want.

Margie Buckingham - Have a goal to aim for.

Len Rawlings - Don't spend if you don't need to.
