Jane Fonda opens up about new health scare
Jane Fonda has revealed she recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth from her lower lip, which was likely a basal-cell carcinoma.
“I just want to explain the bandage,” the 80-year-old told the audience at the AOL BUILD Series in New York City.
“I just had a cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it’s fine. I just want to explain it. I don’t normally go around like this. The world is falling apart. What’s a lip?”
It’s not the star’s first encounter with cancer. In 2010, Fonda was diagnosed with breast cancer, for which she underwent a successful lumpectomy procedure.
Fonda and her Grace and Frankie co-star, Lily Tomlin, are currently promoting the fourth season of their popular comedy series, which will be released on Netflix this Friday.
