“He is fighting”: Rare update on Michael Schumacher’s health condition

Former Ferrari boss Jean Todt has given an update on the health of racing legend Michael Schumacher after he paid him a visit.

While his condition isn’t known to most, Schumacher has remained out of the public eye after a skiing accident in 2013.

Visiting his home in Switzerland, his former friend and boss Todt spoke to The Mail on Sunday to provide an update.

“I saw Michael last week,” said the 74-year-old.

“He is fighting. I hope the world will be able to see him again.

“That is what he and his family are working towards.”

Todt was formerly Schumacher’s team principal at Ferrari and is now the President of Formula One’s governing body – the FIA.

Schumacher won the World Drivers’ Championship five times in a row – during which he was led by Todt.

Todt also spoke up about the constant debate around whether Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton is the greatest driver of all time.

“After an accident like the one Michael has had, does it matter whether Lewis has won more?” Todt said.

After a tragic skiing accident in the Swiss Alps in 2013, Schumacher suffered from traumatic head injuries.
