“He keeps fighting”: Friend shares hope for Michael Schumacher in rare health update
Michael Schumacher’s former boss at Ferrari has revealed that the F1 champion is making progress in his recovery and enjoys watching races on TV.
Jean Todt, one of the racer’s closest confidants, gave F1 fans a rare insight into the life of Schumacher during an interview with Radio Monte-Carlo.
Todt told the station that the 50-year-old is on the road to recovery as his progress is improving as each day passes, with the pair watching F1 on TV together.
He said: “I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true. I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland.”
Though he refused to give any further details out of respect for his family, Todt said: “Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house."
Todt added, “He does not give up and keeps fighting.”
But despite things looking up, Todt has admitted to feeling emotional as his friend struggles to communicate with him.
He said: “His family is fighting just as much and of course our friendship cannot be the same as it once was.
“Just because there’s no longer the same communication as before.
“He continues to fight. And his family is fighting the same way.”
