Donald Trump’s awkward moment caught on camera
A rare display of public affection by President Donald Trump is going viral for all the wrong reasons, after he made a compassionate gesture to Vice President Mike Pence, that many believe was not well received.
President Trump, the First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President Pence attended the memorial service for Reverend Billy Graham at the US Capitol building in Washington.
Mr Graham was an evangelist who died last week at the age of 99, and thousands gathered at Capitol Hill to honour the impact of his life.
It was an emotional day for many people and to show his support, Mr Trump showed an unprecedented display of affection by leaning across to the vice president and placing his hand on his knee.
However, some users have claimed that the sentiment might not have been well-received with the Vice President holding a stiff posture with his lips pressed tightly together.
“He was reaching for Melania and she moved out of the way, so Pence got the grab,” one user wrote.
“I was able to complete a conference call while staring at this photo the whole time,” another wrote.
“Dude! Your wife is right there!” one user added.
Others have claimed that the President was simply patting him in a congratulatory manner as they listened to a speech, with the photograph being taken at the perfect time.
During the memorial, Donald Trump shared a speech to congressmen recalling the time his father took him to see Billy Graham preach.
"My father said to me, come on son," continued Trump. "Let's go see Billy Graham at Yankee stadium, and it was something very special."
