Wedding guest mortified by awkward blunder
A woman has taken to the social media app TikTok to share the stunningly awkward moment she arrived at a wedding with the exact same dress as the bridal party.
Lisa Marie Torres (@lisalovesrandom), regularly posts bridal content to her page, but this time she had to share her own embarrassing blunder.
Lisa told her followers that while she was skimming through an article that articulated why it was inappropriate to wear the same colour as the bridesmaid, she had the sudden realisation that she had made a terrible mistake.
“If you’re not a bridesmaid, wearing the same colour as the ‘maids can make you look like a wannabe,” the website read.
Lisa then went on to share photos of the bridal party from a wedding she recently went to, and herself in the same-coloured dress.
“[My fiancé] was a groomsman, I wasn’t a bridesmaid,” she wrote.
Fans took to the comments, with one follower asking how guests are supposed to know about the bridesmaid’s colours.
“That’s what I asked too,” Lisa replied.
“It’s often on the wedding website. Also, the invitation usually shows wedding colours.”
She also said she didn’t know that it was “against the rules” to wear the same-coloured dress as the bridal party.
The bride whose wedding Lisa had attended commented on the post, saying that she was fine with the incident.
“Girl I didn’t even notice,” she wrote. “You looked great!”
