Woman delivers her own baby in Target carpark
A mother in the US had to pull up in a Target carpark to deliver her baby, despite being en route to the hospital at the time.
Sara Tolliday, from Stratham, New Hampshire, US, was on her way to the hospital with her husband Sam early on Saturday morning when her waters broke.
Speaking to US TV station WMUR9, she said, “You know, I delivered her myself, I guess.”
As they pulled into the carpark, Tolliday said that things “progressed a little faster than expected”.
“It was just so intense and fast, but then I was like, “She's out.” And (Sam) was like, ‘What do you mean, she's out?' And he stopped the car, looked over and there she was,” she shared.
The couple called for an ambulance and a police officer arrived with a blanket for the baby until they were taken to hospital. The family planned to head home after a few days, with reports that baby Liv is doing well.
“It's pretty amazing. Your body just does amazing things,” Tolliday is quoted as saying on Yahoo.com.au.
