Can you solve the beer and burger equation baffling the internet?
Beer, burgers and maths. Sounds like a strange combination, but an innocent little puzzle involving all three has left the internet scratching their heads. Can you solve it?
The first few rows are pretty straightforward, and you’ve probably worked out that a bottle equals 10, a burger equals five and the pints equal two.
Therefore, the answer is 15. Surprised? Let’s break it down a little.
You might not have noticed that in the final line of the equation, there is just one pint – not two. So, if two pints equal two, then one pint must equal one. Therefore, the last line represents 5 + 1 x 10. And, using the order of operations (multiplication before addition), it becomes 5 + 10, which equals 15.
