Making lists can boost your health
Lists are not only handy for remembering items when grocery shopping, they can also be used to keep your health in check. Just like doctors use checklists in the operating theatre to make sure nothing is forgotten, you can use checklists in the same way.
Appointments
Each year, make a list of the check ups that you will need and note them in your phone or calendar.
It could be all manner of things like dentist appointments, breast exams, prostate screening, blood pressure, cholesterol checks. By having these written down you will be much less likely to forget to schedule them down the track.
Doctor visits
Another idea is to start a notebook that you take with you to the doctor. In it, you could write down anything that you wanted to cover on each visit.
So many times we leave the GP and think ‘oh I forgot to ask about that.’ With your list, you won’t forget. And you can even note down about follow ups such as picking up test results. It’s also handy to refer back to later if a health issue comes up again.
Medication
While you’ve got your notebook out, why not note down any medications that you are on and how they should be taken.
This could be helpful if you have to be taken to hospital as a friend or relative could bring the notes to the doctor for you and would know what medication to pack for you.
