Study shows short naps improve memory – time for a siesta then!

A new study has shown that taking a short nap can be good for your memory. Conducted by a postgraduate student at Saarland University in Germany, the study showed that a nap of less than one hour could positively affect a person’s memory recall.

Participants were shown pairs of unrelated words, and then either took a nap for 30 minutes, or watched a DVD for the same amount of time. Afterwards, participants who took a nap were able to recall the words as accurately as they could when they first learnt them, while the DVD-watchers remembered fewer pairs.
