Roger Federer leaves crowd in awe with incredible victory speech
Fans present at the Swiss Indoors tournament were left stunned after tennis legend Roger Federer delivered his victory speech in three different languages.
While Federer’s 99th career title against Marius Copil was an impressive feat, it was his speech after claiming victory that really left the crowd in awe.
Federer chose to deliver his speech in his native tongue, Swiss-German, and then proceeded to deliver the same speech in French and English.
He started off speaking in his first language and then later on, showed his gratitude by thanking his fans in English.
“For those who do not speak such good German and Swiss-German, thank you very much for coming,” he said.
“Thanks for supporting me this week. It’s been a magical week for me and I can’t thank you enough.
“It was a dream run for me so thank you everybody for coming out.”
He then made sure to fulfil a promise he made to his French supporters.
“I made a promise to my fans to say a few words in French as well so here we are,” he said in French.
Federer, who has remained unbeaten in the Swiss tournament for the last four years ended up claiming the win after an hour and 33 minutes.
This is Federer’s first title in over four months since his last win on grass at Stuttgart in June.
