Julie Andrews receives special honour at 83

Julie Andrews has been the star of a number of successful films, including Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, and now her incredible efforts have been recognised once again.

The veteran actress says she is “blessed” to have had a long cinema career while being awarded a lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival.

Andrews won an Oscar in 1965 for her beloved role as a kindhearted nanny named Mary Poppins.

"I consider myself so blessed to have spent a large part of my professional life in the cinema arts," she said on Monday.

The 83-year-old began her long, illustrious career as a child actress in London West End before making a name for herself in Broadway.

Mary Poppins turned into an international star and has gone on to star in movies such as Victor/Victoria and The Princess Diaries, and most recently lent her voice to 2018 blockbuster Aquaman.
