Kate and Wills lead star-studded BAFTA red carpet

Prince William and Kate Middleton have lead the star-studded red carpet at the annual BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards.

Stepping out in style at London's Royal Albert Hall, the royal couple began the precession of the who's who of Britain's entertainment industry.

Prince William, who has served as the president of BAFTA since 2010, donned a sleek black, crushed velvet suit, while Kate paired a one-shoulder white Alexander McQueen gown with black opera gloves.

They were joined on the carpet by stars of the big and small screens, such as Cate Blanchett, Emma Thompson, Julianne Moore, Michelle Yeoh, Catherine Zeta-Jones and many more.

Inside the awards, Aussie actress Cate Blanchett took home the Best Actress award for her role in the film Tár, fuelling speculation the role will also land her an Oscar win later this year.

Meanwhile Austin Butler beat out both Colin Farrell and Brendan Fraser to win Best Leading Actor for his portrayal of Elvis.

The coveted Best Film award went to All Quiet on the Western Front, while The Banshees of Inisherin won the award for Outstanding British Film.
