Meghan Markle's lavish wedding dress bill
Meghan Markle’s wedding dress will cost more than $AU700,000 as the budget for her royal wedding to Prince Harry begins to blow out.
Dubbed Britain’s society wedding of the year, Meghan, 36, will wed royal Harry, 33, on May 19.
According to Look, the budget for the wedding has already doubled and a big reason is the cost of Meghan’s gown.
“The wedding dress has been the biggest expense, and the budget has now doubled from what it originally was,” a source told the publication.
Even Duchess Kate’s wedding dress didn’t cost that much. When Kate Middleton wed Prince William in 2011 her bridal gown cost £40,000 ($AU71,076).
However, the former actress is reportedly paying for the honeymoon, believed to be more than $AU200,000, as her wedding gift to Harry.
The couple will marry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, one of the residences of Queen Elizabeth II’s located west of London.
The newlyweds plan to depart the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage, before a private party in the evening at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle.
As we await to see what bridal gown Meghan will step out in on May 19, let’s take a look back on royal wedding dresses from the past.
