"Very unlikely" Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to return to social media

Royal fans are eagerly waiting to hear from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on social media, but that's looking unlikely according to a new report from The Times.

The couple's former Instagram account Sussexroyal hasn't been used since last March as the pair transitioned out of their senior working royal roles, and despite claims on their website that they would "continue to have a social media platform", the pair are staying away from social media altogether.

The Times reported the couple had no plans to use social media for their non-profit organisation Archewell and are "very unlikely" to return to the sites on a personal level.

Markle has been open about the hate that she's received online and spoke about the "almost unsurvivable" toll of online abuse.

“I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female. Now, eight months of that I wasn’t even visible, I was on maternity leave or with a baby," she told the Teenager Therapy podcast in October 2020.

“But what was able to just be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable, that’s so big, you can’t think of what that feels like, because I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging.”
