Make the most of family time this festive season

If your family’s favourite post Chrissie lunch activity is a snooze in the hammock, it might be time to shake things up a little bit this year. Here in Australia we are blessed with wonderful weather (for the most part) over the Christmas period so getting outside and enjoying it or at least appreciating that we’re not huddled around a fire place for days on end is a no brainer. Here are 5 easy, family friendly activities to try out this year.

1. Head to the beach or park

If you’re lucky enough to live near to the coast, a beach trip on Christmas is the perfect way to cool down. Otherwise, head to your favourite park and set up the cricket stumps or soccer nets. If your family is more about relaxing, why not take your new books or games outside in the garden to enjoy in the sunshine

2. Lend a helping hand

If you’ve got some time to spare over Christmas, helping out those in need really encapsulates the true meaning of the season

3. Get out the board games

Disconnect from the online world by pulling out some family favourites. Perfect for rainy weather or if its too scorching to set foot outside.

4. Take a hike

Most Aussie cities are surrounded by National parks and other nature reserves. Pack up the family, grab the leftovers and head out for a stroll.

5. Create a photo booth

Paper a wall with leftover wrapping paper, use an old sheet as a curtain, set up a camera and tripod and start snapping some priceless family memories.
