Meet the adorable cats watching over Hong Kong’s shops
While guard dogs mightn’t be much out of the ordinary, shopkeepers in Hong Kong prefer the feline touch when it comes to protecting their stores. In 2015, photographer Marcel Heijnen moved to a different neighbourhood in Hong Kong and found the stores in his new area were occupied by unlikely residents – cats.
The animals, which Heijnen describes as “beautiful photogenic subjects,” not only provide companionship to the shopkeepers, but are also considered to be lucky.
