Russell Crowe farewells father in touching memorial service
Russell Crowe has said goodbye to his late father John Alexander Crowe in a Coffs Harbour-based memorial service.
John Alexander passed away on March 30. He was 85.
Russell took to Twitter and Instagram during the afternoon of Saturday June 5 to share photos from the memorial service, which was hosted near the Gladiator star's property in Nana Glen on the NSW coastal town of Coffs Harbour.
The 57-year-old initially shared four images from the service to his Twitter and Instagram without a caption at close to three in the afternoon, before sharing a video later in the evening.
Russell also shared a video of what seems to be the beginning of the memorial, where guests can be seen seated and standing, listening to a string quartet.
"Best quote from the memorial for my father today, my dad to his grand daughter," the 57-year-old wrote in a caption accompanying the video.
"'Don't hang out with glass half full, glass half empty people... hang out with people who know the glass is always refillable'".
On Friday, Russell shared the touching history behind the chapel that hosted the memorial service.
"Weddings, string quartets, soloists, opera singers, meditation, prayer, yoga...the chapel has hosted a lot of things over the years. Tomorrow it will host it's first funeral/memorial," Russell tweeted on Friday.
"My dad loved this building. He was fascinated by it. Pretty sure he'd be pleased."
Russell owns a farm in the region and John Alexander had lived in the same area for the last 25 years.
Russell requested that instead of flowers, for fans and mourners alike to donate to the Charlie Teo Foundation, an organisation that researches and raises awareness for brain cancer, if they wish to pay their respects.
