Tributes to Diana pour out on anniversary of her death
Charles Spencer has memorialised his sister Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash 24 years ago, with a special gesture.
Earl Spencer lowered the flag to half-mast at the family’s home of Althorp, where the princess is buried.
Needing no words to describe the tribute, Earl Spencer shared the photo on his personal social media accounts, receiving a flood of supportive messages in return.
On Althorp House’s official social media accounts, an image of Althorp Park, which surrounds the house, with an explanation of the tribute Earl Spencer made following Diana’s passing in 1997.
“These trees are English oak, some which are over 200 years old. In 1998-1999 Earl Spencer arranged for a planting of a new avenue of oak trees in memory of his sister, Diana, Princess of Wales,” the caption explained.
“There are 36 of these oaks, one for each year of her life.”
Darren McGrady, Diana’s former personal chef at Kensington Palace, also shared a tribute to the People’s Princess.
“24 years ago today. Gone too soon. Amazing Boss,” he wrote on Twitter, alongside a photo of Diana dedicated to McGrady.

The Transport for London workers who started the famous All On The Board initiative that writes poems and inspirational quotes at different underground stations, shared a poem in tribute to Diana.

“On this day 24 years ago the world lost Princess Diana and two boys lost their mother. Forever loved and never forgotten,” they captioned a photo of the sign at a tube station.
The princess passed away on August 31, 1997, after her car crashed in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in France.
