DIY tomato sauce
Where would we be without tomato sauce? While most of us opt for the premade version, DIY tomato sauce is so easy to make yourself (and we think much tastier)!
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup basil leaves
- 2 x 400g cans tomatoes
- Pinch of salt
- 1-2 teaspoons sugar to taste
Method:
- Heat the oil in a wide saucepan, add the garlic and cook for a minute until starting to colour, then add the basil leaves and cook until wilted.
- Add the tomatoes, salt and sugar, break up the tomatoes, then simmer gently for 20 minutes or until thickened. Serve with pasta.
