Gorgeous cold-weather bouquet ideas
Mourning the summertime? The sun may be missing, but there are enough blooming lovely flower varieties available throughout the cold months to give us all something to look forward to.
Chrysanthemums, Amaranthus, Proteas, Caspea (a.k.a. paper flowers), daffodils, roses, anemones and more are stars of the colder months, and they look great teamed with berries and branches.
Here's some cold-season bouquet inspiration from those who know flowers best.

Stephanie Morelli of Love & Mr Lewis at Ponsonby Central, Auckland, looks forward to the arrival of the kale flower.
"It's quite bizarre," she says, "but it's definitely my favourite flower and it lasts a long time."

A moody palette and a contrast between the hard and soft textures is where it's at for Morelli in autumn and winter.
"Definitely all the greys, the blacks, the plums, the dark raspberries. All those dark, sexy colours."
"My favourite combos tend to be hard and soft, so proteas with vintage roses. The kind proteas with berries, dirty oranges."
Whilst the team at Blush Flowers look forward to the arrival of blooms like tulips, that the layman most likely identifies with spring.
"We get coming through what you might think of as spring flowers, but they're available here in autumn and winter."
"Beautiful things like ranunculus, freesia and tulips. The bold flowers. Tulips are the big one."

They prefer jewel tones in autumn, and in winter, whites and greens. "For autumn, we'd say the king protea and foliages."
"For winter, we get this beautiful blue gum foliage and that looks wonderful with berries and red cornice branches. Also willow and birch."

As for owner of Ruby & Blush Floral Couture, Linde Schwarz, it's all about warm colours and what's on trend.
"Celosia, beautiful whisky roses, which are sort of like a hot pink with orange, gladioli, and also monstera leaf which is a hot product right now."

Schwarz's pick for an autumn bouquet draws inspiration from the fallen leaves.
"Warm colours. Oranges and reds with willow, orange lilies, red celosia, lots of green, and lots of branches."
For winter, it's all about white and foliage.

"Foliages are definitely coming in for the winter, like monstera leaf, bay leaf, olive leaf," she says.
"Personally, I love roses. So for me, I would go for all white and greens. Winter wonderland. Lilies and roses, all soft and feminine."
