Couple wed in aged-care home for heartwarming reason
A Melbourne couple chose to hold their wedding in an aged-care facility for one very sweet reason: they didn’t want the bride’s 92-year-old mother to miss the big day.
Brigette Taylor and Paul Williams were together for 15 years before deciding to tie the knot at the aged-care home where Ms Taylor’s mother, Daphne, lives.

After the couple became concerned that Daphne wouldn’t be able to be moved to attend the wedding at another venue, Mr Williams had the idea to bring the ceremony to her.
“It’s been a rough year,” he said.
“So finish it on a high.”

Ms Taylor said the decision was a good thing for her mum for a simple reason: “because she’s the best”.
“Mum hasn’t seen much of us so there’s always the sadness they feel that they’re not loved,” she added.
Staff at the facility pitched in to help transform the centre’s craft room into a wedding venue, complete with an arch, champagne, rose petals, and the couple’s dog, Zulu.
Mr Williams said the staff’s hard work had made the setting “above and beyond” what they were expecting.
