Reader’s Respond: What memory stands out the most from your wedding day?
We asked our readers what memory stands out the most from their wedding day, and the responses are nothing short of hilarious – but also quite upsetting in places.
From forgetting the ring to spilled drinks on dresses, to being told that it’s not too late to turn around, here are just a few of your wedding memory highlights.
Sandy Clark - As my dad was about to walk me down the aisle, he said “well that’s one less freeloader off my hands”. Everyone was laughing! It was a great day and we celebrate 49 years married this year.
Carmel Chandler - Being half an hour late because my friend ran over the water meter and my father had to fix it. When finally walking down the aisle my husband-to-be yelled out "you're late!" At least everyone laughed.
Diane Clark - 57 years ago, my little flower girl kept throwing herself on the ground because she was so upset that I was marrying her boyfriend! She was 4 years old!
Jenni Saurine - Coke spilt on a bridesmaid dress, best man fainted at the altar, ribbons cut short for cars. All in all a great day.
Sheryl Pither - Hub forgot the wedding rings. Had to send his brother home to get them! Just as well he didn't live too far away! The best man didn't even think to remind him of the rings.
Wendy Lenthall - My dad went missing and was found at the pub with my future husband as they are best of friends. I was lucky both turned up.
Sheila Hunter - I told the minister not to wait too long when he asked “speak now or forever hold your peace” during our ceremony.
Lisa Drury Hudson - My father asked me if I'd like to do an “about face” as we walked down the aisle, as it was not too late. Should have, he was right.
David Kerry Weston - Holding my father up as we walked down the aisle because he was a little over the limit.
Jan Bradley - Our wedding car broke down leaving the church, my husband was a motor mechanic had to roll up his sleeves and got it going again, we were late for our reception
Debbie Isbister - My MIL whispering to me on the steps of the church that she would never forgive me for taking her son away from her.
Loretta Fraser - That I shouldn't have walked down the aisle if I'd known what was ahead.
Carol Broadbent - The photographers disappeared to do another wedding and only returned as we left!
Joyce McCloy - His best man asking me if I married the right one.
