Readers response: What career path could you have seen yourself taking but didn’t?

When it comes to work, we often pick a career path and stick with the same industry for most of our working lives.

However, it's not uncommon to have regrets over work, given many people pick their career paths as a young adult.

We asked our readers what career path they could you have seen themselves taking but didn’t, and the response was overwhelming. Here's what they said.

Jill Waterhouse - Nursing, but my parents wouldn't let me. I would have loved to have been a nursery nurse. After coming to Australia I did become a medical secretary, so I suppose I was a bit there.

Nola Martin - Primary school teacher but my father wouldn't let me. Unforgivable.

Peter King - Medicine, but ended up doing aviation instead.

Joy Saker - Speech therapist, but I would have had to live at home for another 4 years.

Helen McKee - I always wanted to be a police officer.

Charlie Hedges - Wanted to be a doctor in space but could not afford the many years of college.

Christina Hutchings -  I wanted to be a librarian.

Sue Nixon - I wish I was an airline stewardess or researcher, something to do with travel.
