10 clever tricks from professional cleaners
A cleaner is one of life’s privileges, but even if you can’t afford one you can still use their tricks! Mail Online has put together a list of tips and tricks from professional cleaners.
Here are 10 clever tips that will have you cleaning like a pro.
1. Use toothpaste as a way to clean your joggers
Toothpaste isn’t only good for your pearly whites. If you’ve got a pair of joggers that are in disrepair, consider scrubbing them with toothpaste every so often.
2. Clean lounge spills with baking soda
If you’ve spilled a drink on your sofa, cleaning experts think the best thing to do is sprinkling it with baking soda before rinsing it off to remove the stains.
3. Remove pain stains with a razor
If as part of your home redecorations you’ve accidentally redecorated your clothes as well, a razor can be a handy way to scrape the excess stain off.
4. Clean your grater out with a potato
Removing remnant cheese or carrot from a grater can be tricky, but a good way to help with this process is rubbing a potato over it to get rid of trapped food bits.
5. Use a hairdryer to get rid of water marks
If you forgot to use a coaster on your wooden table, don’t distress. Simply blast a hairdryer over it (as soon as possible) and you can get rid of the mark.
6. Coca Cola for a greasy floor
If you’ve spilled oil or grease on your garage floor, a splash of Coca Cola can help get rid of the stain.
7. Mouthwash for a washing machine
If you’ve got a dirty washing machine, half a cup of mouthwash can help disinfect it.
8. Collect broken pieces of glass with bread
This is a handy way to clear up broken glass if you don’t want to risk cutting yourself (just remember to avoid turning this bread into a sandwich).
9. Use socks with your mop
If you’ve run out of sheets for your mop, simply dampen an inside-out sock with the cleaning solution and stretch it around the mop head as you normally would.
10. Use vodka for nail polish stains
Spilling red polish on the carpet is a disaster, but the best way to get rid of it is pouring a spirit like vodka on the stain, then rubbing it away with a microfibre cloth.
