New Zealand town dubbed one of ‘World’s Greatest Places’
Queenstown has been named one of the “World’s Greatest Places” by Time Magazine, making it one of 50 “extraordinary travel destinations” from around the world that have been recognised.
The South Island town is the only New Zealand destination to make the list, joining the likes of the Galapagos Islands, Seoul, Detroit, Nairobi, and Toronto.
Time compiled the list from a collection of nominations from its international network of correspondents and contributors that included countries, regions, cities and towns that offer new and exciting experiences.
Mat Woods, the chief executive of Destination Queenstown, was delighted by the news.
“International recognition like this is a great reminder that we live in one of the world’s greatest places … It’s fantastic to be acknowledged internationally, especially after a tough couple of years,” he said.
As for Australia, two locations made the list. Unsurprisingly, the Great Barrier Reef made the list, along with Fremantle in Western Australia.
