Angela Merkel in quarantine after her doctor tests positive for coronavirus
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is currently self-quarantining after a doctor who recently administered her a vaccine tested positive for the coronavirus, shedding light on just how close the disease is getting to our world leaders.
German government spokesman, Steffan Seibert said that Merkel will self-isolate in her home and receive regular COVID-19 tests in the coming days.
Merkel came in contact with a doctor who gave her a precautionary pneumococcal vaccine on Friday and later tested positive, said Seibert.
She will continue to work from home and carry out her duties as chancellor remotely.
Merkel was informed of her doctor’s diagnosis shortly after she gave a press conference announcing more aggressive restrictions on German life to fight the virus, including banning all public gatherings of two or more people unless they live together, or if it's essential work-related.
