10 best-value travel destinations for 2016
It’s been a busy month for the folks at Lonely Planet, who have also released their annual list of bargain international trips, which are perfect for some wallet-friendly wandering abroad.
And our friends across the ditch made the list! Lonely Planet recommends Western Australia as the perfect destination for the budget traveller in Australia in 2016, particularly in light of the fact that the Australian dollar is a better deal for overseas visitors than it has been in the last few years.
Lonely Planet points to the beauty of Western Australia in its description, writing, “Beyond cosmopolitan Perth, iconic natural sights abound here, from the rocky coast and winelands of the southwest to the outback treats of the Kimberley, Kununurra and the Pinnacles.”
Rounding out the list is Estonia where, as Lonely Planet puts it, “That chunk of change in your pocket you’ve had since last leaving the Eurozone will buy you a round of drinks.” Lonely Planet suggests that here is where you get most bang for your buck when travelling in 2016 and allows you to experience “a distinct slice of Europe where Eastern and Nordic influences mix together.”
