Boca Juniors vs River Plate (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
The rivalry between Boca and River Plate is the most intense perhaps in all of Latin America and games are a riot of colour, noise and energy. Tickets are cheap and matches between the traditional rivals are always fierce, passionate and absorbing.
Centre Court at Wimbledon (London, England)
Any of the majors would be amazing to visit, but there’s no denying that this remains the most famous court in the world. Centre Court is relatively small compared to Roland Garros or Melbourne Park but the history and atmosphere is unmatched.
100 metre Olympic Finals (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
It might be a little bit late to get tickets for Brazil, but if you’re ever have the opportunity to visit the event that makes the world collectively hold its breath you owe it to yourself to go. You could hear a pin drop in the stadium as the starters await the pistol.
Courtside seats at a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game (Los Angeles, USA)
If you somehow manage to snag courtside seats at the Staples Centre you’ll be among fine company, sharing seats with the likes of Jack Nicholson. Any NBA game is an assault on the senses, and even people unfamiliar with hoop will find something to enjoy.
Sumo Wrestling (Tokyo, Japan)
Watch a fight at Madison Square Garden (New York, USA)
Boxing certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you are going to watch a bout New York’s hallowed Madison Square Garden is the place to go. MSG has hosted some of boxing’s best bouts, including 1971’s Fight of the Century between Frazier and Ali.
Monaco Grand Prix (Principality of Monaco)
Even if motorsports aren’t your thing, it’d be hard to go to the Monaco Grand Prix and not have an unforgettable experience. Held annually since 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix is considered the premier event of racing season by auto enthusiasts.
Tour de France (France)
While this multi-stage bicycle race sometimes spills into nearby countries, it’s primarily held in France and the best place to watch the cyclists pass is in the French Alps where their endurance is put to the ultimate test. The view isn’t too bad either!
