Tokyo’s incredible train-pushing phenomenon
Tokyo has one of the best-connected public transport systems in the world, but for some passengers that morning commute can be quite an experience.
Certain train stations are flooded with commuters of a morning, making it virtually impossible for passengers to get on a train safely and of their own volition.
This had led to the introduction of ‘pushers’.
Pushers are train staff that literally push commuters onto crowded trains and help the doors close safely. As you see in the video above, it’s an art form!
Commuters must be cooperative to make sure they all make it onto the train safely, and the pushers provide a little bit of helpful assistance when required.
