Twin polar bear cubs born at Sea World Australia
Sea World Australia has welcomed an adorable pair of new arrivals this week, as 16-year-old polar bear Liya successfully gave birth to twin cubs. To celebrate, the theme park released a candid video showing Liya caring for the cubs in her den.
These cubs, who at this stage are currently unnamed, are the second litter to Liya, who is one of the star attractions at Sea World’s Polar Bear Shores exhibition.
The twins have a lot of growing to do, as they were born weighing 600 grams and only 15 centimetres long. They are blind and toothless at birth with short, soft fur.
Watch the video of Liya caring for her cubs above. While they might grow up to be the sort of animal you wouldn’t want to meet on the arctic ice, they’re adorable now and it’s nice to share this candid moment.
