Wave clouds appear over Colorado ski resort
These stunning pictures, captured by Breckenridge Ski Resort residents in Colorado, appear to show the clouds ready to “break” like waves into an ocean.
The unusual weather formation from “when a layer of cloud is found beneath a layer of warmer air and the two layers happen to be moving in separate directions”, according to Andy Russell, a weather and climate lecturer at Brunel University.
Mountainous areas like Colorado are more likely to experience weather patterns like this due to the atmospheric properties at this elevation.
