Mum calls for wider parking spaces for women
When UK mother-of-four Rae Martin appeared on ITV’s This Morning this week, she probably has no idea of the social media storm she was about to unwittingly unleash.
Martin, who is advocating a campaign for wider parking spaces for women, has been branded “sexist” by vicious comments on social media platforms, despite citing the success of a similar scheme in China.
Martin admitted that she "can't park to save her life".
"I'm alright in the small car but I've got a much bigger car now and over the last 20 years cars have got a lot bigger...".
Martin added that she struggles to park a car as her children often distract her, but also controversially argued that women in general are “worse parkers than men”.
But the backlash on social media has been terrible, with commentators taking to Twitter to voice their displeasure:
