Why this robot suitcase will change the way we travel
Lugging your suitcase around a crowded airport is probably the least desirable part of travel, but for the longest time it’s been a necessary evil. But, an invention from a San Francisco-based robotics company could be set to change all that.
Travelmate Robotics has created the world’s first “true fully autonomous suitcase”, with the first models of the robot suitcase expected to start shipping in June.
Using your smartphone as its command centre, the suitcase uses artificial intelligence and a range of sensors to track your while it avoids obstacles in its path.
It also responds to simple voice comments and basic hand gestures, boasts a digital weight system, self-charging capabilities and can lock and unlock with a finger print.
The suitcase comes in small, medium and large with prices set at $399, $495, and $595 respectively. It’s also available for pre-order, and you can have a gander here.
