The new in-depth screening process coming to airports
If you’re someone who gets a little antsy when shuffling your way through the airport screening process then buckle up – we’ve got some bad news for you.
A report from the Wall Street Journal suggests a new baggage screening process is coming to airports, which will come as a shock to many passengers.
The new rules, which will be rolled out in the US initially by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will require travellers to remove all food and electronics larger than a mobile food, and leave then in a security bin, in much the same way laptops are put through the screening process at airports currently.
The measures are currently being tested at a range of US airports including Los Angeles International, Boston's Logan International, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, and are expected to be expanded nationwide.
The new screening procedures reportedly have nothing to do with the recent electronics ban which got a lot of press over the last few months, and are rather part of plans that have been in the works for over two years to allow screeners to scam through baggage more quickly and reduce the amount of manual bag checks required.
What do you think? Are these changes a win?
