This controversial move will upset many Jetstar passengers

Jetstar is about to slug certain passengers with a $50 surcharge, in a controversial move that will upset many people who are planning to fly with the budget carrier.

Parents who are planning to carry infants on their laps without booking a seat on a domestic flight will have to pay a fee of $30 for each leg of the journey.

For international flights, a fee of $50 will be applied.

Children under the age of two who didn’t require a seat were previously allowed to travel for free on Jetstar flights within Australia and New Zealand, and on international flights between Australia and New Zealand. The new rules reportedly will not apply to any pre-existing bookings.

What do you think of the move? Should parents travelling with young children be expected to pay more? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
