Country estate with royal ties hits the market
<p dir="ltr">A country estate formerly owned by Prince Charles has gone on sale with an asking price of 4.95 million ($AUD 9 million or $NZD 9.45 million) - as well as an unusual deal with the royal.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The current owners purchased Brimptsmead Estate from Prince Charles about 27 years ago. Though they own it in its entirety, the two parties struck a deal to allow the prince to fish on the property’s riverbank whenever he chooses, as long as gives them a day’s notice.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The property, located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park in southern England, is a 37,312-square-metre estate with the River Dart running right through it.</p>
<p dir="ltr">As a result, it makes a perfect spot for salmon and trout fishing.</p>
<p dir="ltr">However,<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.mansionglobal.com/articles/english-country-estate-formerly-owned-by-prince-charles-asks-nearly-5-million-01635796424" target="_blank"><em>Mansion Global</em></a><span> </span>reported that the Prince of Wales has never taken advantage of the agreement, and hasn’t been seen on the property since selling it.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Along with its royal ties, the property features a 115-year-old pink granite Edwardian home with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and seven living areas.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The current owners have renovated the home to include polished granite floors, oak panelling, and 120 handcrafted leaded mullion windows.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Two three-bedroom cottages are also included with the property, as well as manicured grounds, a six-car garage, and an entertaining area and balcony sitting over it.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The home has been<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.knightfrank.co.uk/properties/residential/for-sale/dartmeet-yelverton-devon-pl20/exe190393" target="_blank">listed</a><span> </span>by Knight Frank since mid-October, with the listing describing the property as having a “magical” setting.</p>
