“You can’t park there”: Elderly driver mistakes brake pads for accelerator
<p dir="ltr">An elderly woman who mistook her accelerator for her brake pads when entering a shopping centre car park saw her vehicle end up on top of another. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Shocking images shared to social media show a Honda Civic sitting on top of an expensive Mercedes in Westfield Hurstville, Sydney. </p>
<p dir="ltr">It is understood that the driver was a 73-year-old woman who confused her brake and accelerator pedals.</p>
<p dir="ltr">She drove through the boom gates before her car somehow drove onto the Mercedes about 9.45am on October 13. </p>
<p dir="ltr">A 50-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the terrifying incident. </p>
<p dir="ltr">CCTV is yet to be released to show exactly how the incident occurred, with many questioning how the car wound up on top of the other. </p>
<p dir="ltr">“I honestly don’t understand the physics behind this,” someone commented.</p>
<p dir="ltr">“Imagine coming back from your shopping to see a car parked on top of yours,” another wrote. </p>
<p dir="ltr">“You can’t park there,” someone else joked. </p>
