Margot Robbie welcomes first child

<p>Margot Robbie has reportedly given birth to her first child with her husband, British filmmaker Tom Ackerley.</p> <p>According to <em>People</em>, the 34-year-old Australian actress gave birth to a baby boy on October 17 in Los Angeles. </p> <p>Her family is reportedly in the process of planning to travel out to the US.</p> <p>The actress known for her iconic roles in films like<em> I, Tonya, Wolf of Wall Street </em>and <em>Barbie</em>, has kept a low profile throughout her pregnancy, with friends and family also remaining tight-lipped on news of the baby.</p> <p>Ackerley was spotted carrying a box of nappies on the streets of LA on October 30, sparking speculation they had welcomed their baby. </p> <p>Robbie and Ackerley, met on the set of<em> Suite Française</em> in 2013, where he was an assistant director and she starred as Celine Joseph. </p> <p>They then married in December 2016 during a private ceremony in Byron Bay. </p> <p>Robbie's pregnancy was made public in July, with the couple enjoying a romantic babymoon to Sardinia, Italy a month later. </p> <p>The actress made her last red carpet appearance on September 9, when she attended the screening of the comedy movie she produced with her husband. </p> <p>Robbie has previously revealed how much she enjoys working with her husband. </p> <p>“I’m a great advocate of doing business with your partner,” she told <em>Porter </em>in 2018.</p> <p>“Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow. "They lost it": Margot Robbie's surprise encounter with Barbie fans

<p>Margot Robbie has recalled a sweet story about when she overheard a group of men talking about the <em>Barbie</em> movie, before giving them the surprise of their life. </p> <p>At a screening of the <em>Barbie</em> movie in Los Angeles, the Aussie actress told the audience of the heartwarming moment she encountered in Scotland, shortly after the film's release last July. </p> <p>At the SAG-AFTRA screening of the blockbuster movie, Robbie began, “I had this brilliant experience.”</p> <p>“I was in a pub in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and I listened for about 30 minutes to a group of guys on a bachelor party discussing the <em>Barbie</em> movie, not knowing that I was sitting two or three feet away from them.”</p> <p>Robbie continued, “It was just truly fascinating. There were people at the table who refused to see the <em>Barbie</em> movie."</p> <p>“One guy was like, ‘Dude, it is a cultural moment, don’t you want to be a part of culture?’ And the other guy was like, ‘I’ll never see it,’ and by the end he did want to see it. It was a whole thing."</p> <p>“I wasn’t going to go up to them, but then I did.”</p> <p>Before leaving the pub, Robbie casually waltzed up to the group of men who “lost it” when they discovered Barbie herself had overheard their conversation.</p> <p>“At the last minute as I was walking out I went to their table and I went ‘Thank you for seeing the <em>Barbie</em> movie’,” she added.</p> <p>“It was very funny, they lost it. It took a full minute for them to realise and I was practically out the door and they went ‘Ohhhh’.</p> <p>“People’s reactions to the movie have been the biggest reward of this entire experience.”</p> <p>The heartwarming story comes fresh on the heels of Margot being <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/movies/margot-robbie-snubbed-as-oscar-nominations-announced" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snubbed</a> for a Best Actress nomination at this year's Oscars for the <em>Barbie</em> movie, which caused an uproar on social media. </p> <p>Margot addressed the snub at the LA screening, saying there's “no way to feel sad when you’re this blessed.”</p> <p>“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director,” she added.</p> <p>“What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is."</p> <p>“We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. Margot Robbie snubbed as Oscar nominations announced

Margot Robbie's enormous Barbie salary revealed

<p>Margot Robbie is set to take home her biggest pay cheque yet for her portrayal in the <em>Barbie</em> movie, as the highly-anticipated film hits the $1 billion mark at the global box office. </p> <p>Robbie, who started her acting career on <em>Neighbours</em>, both starred in and produced the Barbie film, which was directed by Greta Gerwig. </p> <p>According to reports from <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/barbie-pay-margot-robbie-salary-box-office-bonuses-1235695563/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Variety</em></a>, the 32-year-old Aussie actress made an upfront fee of $19 million to portray the Mattel doll, but that figure will make a significant jump after the lucrative sales, bringing Margot's salary to $77 million. </p> <p><em>Barbie</em>, which was made on a budget of approximately $220 million, hit the coveted $US1 billion mark at the global box office earlier this month, just two weeks after it hit cinemas.</p> <p>Robbie was instrumental in the making of the <em>Barbie</em> film, as her production company, LuckyChap, purchased the rights from Mattel in 2018. </p> <p>She then pitched the film to Warner Bros. and managed to convince Gerwig to both write and direct the blockbuster movie, with Gerwig's partner Noah Baumbach jumping in to help write the screenplay.</p> <p>Speaking of her commitment to making <em>Barbie</em> happen, Robbie recently said she was “overselling” the project in early meetings with executives to get the project off the ground. </p> <p>“I think my pitch in the green-light meeting was the studios have prospered so much when they’re brave enough to pair a big idea with a visionary director,” Robbie said in an interview with <a title="collider.com" href="https://collider.com/barbie-margot-robbie-interview-ryan-gosling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Collider</em> </a>in July.</p> <p>She added, “And then I gave a series of examples like, ‘dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg’ – pretty much naming anything that’s been incredible and made a ton of money for the studios over the years. </p> <p>“And I was like, ‘And now you’ve got <em>Barbie</em> and Greta Gerwig.’ And I think I told them that it’d make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, OK?”</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Margot Robbie’s eye watering movie salary revealed

<p dir="ltr">Margot Robbie has become the highest paid Hollywood actress thanks to her role in Greta Gerwig’s live action <em>Barbie </em>movie.</p> <p dir="ltr">The Australian actress, 32, takes on the lead role of <em>Barbie </em>in the upcoming film and received an eye watering USD$12.5 million (AUD$18.1 million) for it. </p> <p dir="ltr">This hefty sum now places Margot on the top of the list of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses. </p> <p dir="ltr">Her salary definitely soared since her last blockbuster <em>Birds of Prey</em> which saw her earn USD$10 million (AUD$14.6 million).</p> <p dir="ltr">Her co-star, heartthrob Ryan Gosling was reportedly paid the same amount for playing the lead male role in the film. </p> <p dir="ltr">Margot said that she is excited for the film to be released and it will certainly bring in a different type of audience. </p> <p dir="ltr">“We like the things that feel a little left of center. Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is’,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“But our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different—the thing you didn’t know you wanted’.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Barbie </em>is expected to be released in July 2023.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: IMDB</em></p>

Margot Robbie to star in the highly anticipated Neighbours finale

<p>Aussie icon and beloved actress, Margot Robbie is set to feature in the historic final episode of Neighbours.</p> <p>The 32-year-old, who played Donna Freedman from 2008-2011 filmed the Zoom appearance sometime after the show wrapped filming on the 10th of June.</p> <p>Fellow Aussies Delta Goodrem, Jesse Spencer, Holly Valance, Carla Bonner, Natalie Imbruglia and Kym Valentine, who all had their start on the show, will all return to the finale.</p> <p>“Everyone working on the soap was determined that Neighbours would end on a real high and when they reached out to Margot she said ''yes'' straight away” according to an unknown source.</p> <p>“There was no way she wasn't going to be a part of the historic big finale as she's always spoken so fondly about her time on the soap and how it helped to launch her movie career. Sadly, she couldn't get to Australia for filming but recorded a special clip that will be shown in the big finale.”</p> <p>Margot instead sent 37 bottles of champagne to the set as a gift, one for each year that the show has been in on television.</p> <p>The show's executive producer Jason Herbison announced Robbie had sent the gift and the cast raised a toast following the end of filming on the show's final ever day of production.</p> <p>Robbie shot to fame in the Australian soap playing aspiring fashion designer Donna Freedman. She previously credited the show and said it was “brilliant training” for her Hollywood career and admitted that she could never learn lines at the speed she used to during her soap days.</p> <p>The finale will air in both Australia and the UK on Friday the 29th of July.</p> <p><em>Image: Getty</em></p>

The actor also teased what it's like working on a Greta Gerwig set.</p> <p>"When you're doing a scene and it's working, you hear, 'HAHAHAHA!' It's the best feeling in the world," Liu said. Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie and Toni Collette in Oscars contention after SAG awards nod

<p>The Hollywood award seasons continues on and this year will once again acknowledge Australia’s A-listers, with Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe and Toni Collette nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards.</p> <p>The SAG Awards are one part of ceremonies that occur before the Oscars, and nominations provide a significant boost to actors' campaigns.</p> <p>Voters snubbed Kidman in the lead actress in a TV drama series category for her TV show<span> </span>Big Little Lies.</p> <p>It came as one of the biggest surprises on Wednesday during the SAG nomination ceremony.</p> <p>However, she received a supporting actress nod for her role in<span> </span>Bombshell,<span> </span>a movie that centred on sexual harassment at US news channel<span> </span>Fox News.</p> <p>Kidman will go head to head with her Bombshell co-star Margot Robbie in the SAG category.</p> <p>The Australian actress is in the running for SAG’s top award along with Robbie and the rest of the<span> </span>Bombshellcast, including Malcolm McDowell.</p> <p>McDowell played Rupert Murdoch in the film.</p> <p>Kidman also received a nomination with her Big Little Lies cast in the TV drama series ensemble category.</p> <p>New Zealand-born actor, Russell Crowe, has received a nod in the outstanding actor in a TV movie/limited series category for The Loudest Voice, which follows closely behind his Golden Globe nomination.</p> <p>The actor, who recently opened up about the<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/heartbroken-russell-crowe-shows-bushfire-damage-to-multimillion-dollar-property" target="_blank">damage done to his multimillion-dollar property due to the NSW and QLD bushfires</a>, plays Fox News boss Roger Ailes.</p> <p>Toni Collette received a nomination in the outstanding actress TV movie/limited series category for her role in<span> </span>Unbelievable.</p> <p>Unfortunately, Kidman was snubbed for a supporting actor nod for<span> </span>Bombshell<span> </span>at the Golden Globe nominations but did receive a nod for<span> </span>Big Little Lies.</p> <p>Robbie, Crowe and Collette all received the same Globe nominations  as they did with SAG in the same categories.</p> <p>The SAG Award winners will be announced on January 19 in Los Angeles.</p> <p>Scroll through the gallery to see the Australian A-listers. </p>

Superman’s Louis Lane, Margot Kidder, dies aged 69

<p>Margot Kidder, the Canadian actress best known for starring as Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the Superman film franchise of the 1970s and 1980s, has died aged 69.</p> <p>Kidder passed away on Sunday at her home in Livingston, Montana, according to a notice on the website of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. </p> <p>Kidder’s manager Camilla Fluxman Pines said she died peacefully in her sleep. Watch Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding in the new “I, Tonya” trailer

<p>The trailer for the much anticipated film <em>I, Tonya</em> has just been released and there’s already Oscar buzz for Australian actress Margot Robbie’s performance of disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding.  </p> <p>The new 50-second clip unveils the first look at 27-year-old Robbie masterfully whizzing around the ice.</p> <p>“America, they want someone to love,” the Australian star narrates in a very impressive Oregon accent. “But they want someone to hate.”</p> <p> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aOidmyXkbyQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></p> <p>The film tells the tale behind the shocking 1994 attack on figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.</p> <p>Tonya, now 46, was infamously accused of ordering the attack and received a lifetime ban from the U.S. Figure Skating Association.</p> <p>Tonya’s bodyguard and ex-husband was enlisted to break Nancy’s legs and although he bungled the job, Nancy was force out of the U.S. Figure Skating Championship.</p> <p>The next month, both Tonya and Nancy competed in the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Tonya came eight, whereas Nancy earned a silver medal.</p> <p>Tonya pleaded guilty to conspiracy to hinder their prosecution, managing to keep herself out of prison.</p> <p><em>I, Tonya</em> hits theatres on December 8.  </p> <p> </p>

Margot Robbie reveals she text messages Prince Harry

<p>Australian born beauty Margot Robbie has revealed that her and Prince Harry are on quite good terms. The 26-year-old actress said that she and the dashing royal even exchange text messages.</p> <p>Speaking at the premiere of her <em>Suicide Squad</em> film on Monday, she told <em>E! News</em>:”'He's pretty quick on text actually.”</p> <p>The ex- <em>Home and Away</em> star, who shares a flat in London with her boyfriend, Tom Ackerley, also admitted she leaves him hanging “weeks” before she replies.</p> <p>The true blue Queensland girl doesn’t seem to phased by the crown.</p> <p>When do you think Prince Harry will find a nice girl to settle down with? Prince Harry rumoured to be dating an Aussie

<p>Whispers of a new romance between Prince Harry and Australian actress Margot Robbie have been prompted by a series of pictures taking in a private photo booth at an exclusive London party.</p> <p>The party was held last week and Prince Harry was reportedly smitten by Robbie, with a partygoer telling New Idea, “They seemed very close. Harry was hanging off her every word – he was clearly smitten. Everyone was talking about their chemistry.
